چکیده

Injury to the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) is well recognised in association with fractures of the distal radius and ulna. Damage to the articular disc or, more correctly, the triangular fibrocartilage complex of the joint, occurring at the time of injury, is now well recognised as a major cause of persistent symptoms following Colles' fracture.' Isolated injury to the distal radioulnar articulation is much less common. It is frequently misdiagnosed and often treated inappropriately, resulting in prolonged disability.2 Anterior subluxation of the distal end of the ulna was first described in the English literature by Sir Astley Cooper in 1822 when he reported its presence in a woman who had sustained a supination injury in a riot. He noted the ulna to be unduly prominent at the front of the wrist. Reduction was extremely difficult and was only achieved at the fourth attempt by forceful pronation of the forearm using two assistants and countertraction from a wall! Since then occasional articles and

Outcome Assessment after Aptis Distal Radioulnar Joint (DRUJ) Implant Arthroplasty

Background:  Conventional treatments after complicated injuries of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) such as Darrach and Kapandji-Sauvé procedures have many drawbacks, which may eventually lead to a painful unstable distal ulna.  The development of DRUJ prosthesis has significantly evolved over the past years. In this study, we assessed the outcome results of patients after DRUJ implant arthro...

Traumatic recurrent distal radioulnar joint dislocation: a case report

Isolated acute distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) dislocation is a rare injury (Garrigues and Aldridge III in J Bone Joint Surg Am 89:1594-1597, 2007]. Reports of isolated DRUJ luxations, volair or dorsal, are often case reports and rarely a series of cases [Dameron Jr in Clin Orthop Relat Res 83:55-63, 1972]. We present a case of an acute traumatic dorsal DRUJ dislocation treated with cast immobil...

A Misdiagnosis of Traumatic Hypersupination of the Distal Radioulnar Joint: A Case Report

Traumatic hypersupination injury of the distal radioulnar joint is a rare injury, and occurs when sufficient supination force is applied to the joint so as to tear the volar radioulnar ligament, resulting in separation of the triangular fibrocartilage complex, and subluxation of the tendon of extensor carpi ulnaris. This allows the distal ulna to rotate such that the ulnar styloid comes to lie ...

Irreducible dorsal radiocarpal fracture dislocation with dissociation of the distal radioulnar joint: a case report.

We report a case of dorsal radiocarpal fracture dislocation with dissociation of the distal radioulnar joint. Closed reduction was unsuccessful due to interposition of the osteochondral fragments and open reduction and fixation was carried out with a satisfactory end result. The advantages of volar approach and use of external fixator in the management of this injury are discussed.

A new external fixation method in Colles’ fracture associated with the distal radioulnar joint dislocation in elderly patients

Background: Isolated distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) dislocation is uncommon. It always associated with the radius and ulna fracture (distal radius fracture, Galeazzi, Monteggia fracture or the Essex-Lopresti forearm fracture). Many of DRUJ dislocation associated with distal radius fracture, especially Colles’ fracture. Volar locking plate (VLP) must be used to fix the distal fragments and the c...
